Pinball Flipper Upgrade: Bushing Replacement Guide
Sad flippers are one of the most common complaints in pinball. Here's a full walkthrough on a flipper rebuild and icing the cake with a MAYA stainless steel bushing.
MAYA
Tired flippers are one of those things that creep up on you. The machine plays fine, then one day you realise the flippers feel like they are made of disappointment.
We put together a full walkthrough covering diagnosis, disassembly, and fitting a stainless steel replacement bushing. A big thank you to my friend Chris Talbot for filming and editing the whole thing.
The video covers lifting the playfield, pulling the flipper assembly apart, swapping out tired linkage components, swapping the bushing, and putting it all back together. Whether you are restoring a machine or just want every drop of flipper performance from your game, the process is the same. Want to see what good flippers make possible? Check out our animated flipper skills guide.
The stainless steel bushings used in the video are available in the products page. They are precision machined for a better fit and longer service life than the standard plastic parts. The complete instructions and (borderline excessive) detail in material choices and other considerations in manufacturing are available over in the tech papers section of the site.
